A fun project from J Paul Hawthorne

A while back we did a Death Chart on the blog after Nathan Murphy posted his Death Chart on the FamilySearch Blog.  Yesterday J Paul Hawthorne posted a cool chart on Facebook showing the birth places of his ancestors and a gazillion genealogists followed suit (including me).  My chart is a bit boring compared to some of the others.  I am not very diverse.  This was created in Excel.

  1. These views are very interesting and thanks for sharing. Will have to give it a try. This view makes me think of those X-DNA pedigree shading charts that can be helpful. Makes me wonder if Ancestry could add optional "layers" like these on their pedigree views?

    1. I love colors :) I color code as much stuff as I can. Needless to say, I like X-DNA charts.

  2. I did not know you were born in Germany, how interesting. Did you live there long?
